What is a disciple? Disciples existed in biblical times as those sitting under the tutilege of a scholar or teacher. Jesus, is the greatest known Teacher of His Father's Word, Will and Principles and He has chosen us all to be students of that knowledge. As students, the wisdom and knowledge we receive through the Word, we apply in our daily lives.
If you look at the example of a member, or membership by definition; it usually incorporates paying dues and earning a place in the organization, a place of entitlement. That is a worldly model. We follow after a Kingdom model. Jesus and the early churches did not have members, they had followers and disciples.
